| SAMARITANS CAMPAIGN URGES MEN TO 'TALK ABOUT IT' | ||
A hard-hitting campaign's being launched across Scotland this afternoon - to combat suicide among young men. Entitled 'Men on the Ropes' - it aims to reduce the number of males taking their own lives each year. Research has suggested men are three times more likely to die from suicide than women - the campaign urges men to talk about their problems and consider calling the Samaritans.

| ARBROATH MEN ESCAPE SERIOUS INJURY IN TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR | ||
Two Angus workers had a miracle escape yesterday when their van was swept off the Arbroath harbour. Jonathan Moorland and his un-named colleague - from local firm R.S Joinery - were forced to climb out of the broken windscreen after high tides caused havoc, smashing the van to pieces. One of the men was treated for cuts and mild concussion but was later released. It was part of the weather chaos yesterday - which saw many streets in Dundee and Fife closed off due to flooding. |

REDUNDANCY APPLICATIONS REACH OVER 450 |

Over 450 staff at Dundee City Council have opted for voluntary redundancy. The scheme - which also looks at voluntary retirement - has been introduced as part of plans to save 40 million pounds over the next three years. The council announced it received 464 applications before last month's closing date. Early approval has already been granted for 104 employees - who've been told they can leave this financial year. |

COLLEGE HAS DRIVING AMBITION TO GO GREEN |

Dundee College has proved it's got the driving ambition to go green. It's taken on a new electric-powered 'Mega Van' to deliver mail and goods between the campuses. It doesn't require any tax and has a running cost of less than two pence per litre. It's part of the college's green ethos which has seen materials being recycled and a new roof to harvest rainwater.
